Meet your ANC (write-in) candidates: Andrea Molod, 3F05

October 28, 2014 by FHC

If you live in ANC 3F (which encompasses much of the 20008 Zip code’s northern half), you are likely to see at least one name on the November 4th ballot for your single member district. The two exceptions are those voters who live in 3F05 and 3F07. No one picked up or turned in ballot petitions for those SMDs ahead of the August deadline. But that doesn’t mean 3F05 residents have no one to vote for.

ANC 3F05 now has a write-in candidate: Andrea Molod. Here is her statement.

Andrea MolodMy name is Andrea Molod, and I am asking for your write-in vote for the ANC3F Single Member District 05 to ensure that our district has representation on the commission.

I have been a District resident for 25 years, and a homeowner for much of that time. I obtained my doctorate in atmospheric science at Johns Hopkins, and have worked work for 25 years as a climate scientist with NASA.

I have volunteered my time in the community in different capacities. I have been an instructor in the literacy program, have been a guest lecturer in science classes in local schools and spoken in community forums about the weather and climate, have participated in NASA-sponsored programs to expose middle school and high school students to the day to day workings of NASA scientists, and have served as co-organizer of the Ward 3 group solar purchase.

My personal priorities include the education and training of young women in science and engineering, and ensuring energy sustainability for the future of the District. I also am committed to the maintenance of local park spaces.

I hope that the residents of single member district ANC 3F05 will write me in on the ballot so that I can be your voice on the commission. I hope to hear from you (amolod58@gmail.com) about the issues that are a priority for you and to give voice to those priorities at commission meetings.

If you have decided to run as a write-in candidate for ANC, please send your statement to info@foresthillsconnection.com.

Don’t know who represents you on your ANC? Go to ANCFinder.org. Then check out the statements from the other candidates.

Andrea – Thanks for running! I appreciated all your work on organizing Ward 3 solar group with DC Sun. Serving on the ANC is rewarding, and I’m sure you will do a great job.
