Critics lauded her 2015 documentary, Rosenwald, on the Jewish philanthropist who built thousands of schools for African-American children in the segregated south.
Forest Hills-based filmmaker Aviva Kempner is currently working on a film on Moe Berg, the Major League ballplayer turned wartime spy.
A screening of the work-in-progress will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 6th at the Edlavitch Jewish Community Center (1529 16th Street NW). During the hour-long talk, 20 minutes of the film will be shown, followed by a discussion with director Kempner, intelligence analyst Richard Willing, and Henry “Hank” Thomas, biographer and grandson of Walter Johnson.
