The stone bridge that ferries Grant Road foot, bike and car traffic over the Broad Branch stream has long been in a state of disrepair. And it is finally getting a fix.
Two fixes, in fact. Work crews are shoring up its underbelly.
And at road level, the workers are replacing and rebuilding the bridge’s damaged stone guardrails.
While the work is under way, the bridge is limited to one lane of car traffic each way. The Rock Creek NPS website lists the project along with its other road work alerts.

Adrian Salsgiver says
That part of Grant Road is like a battlefield. It is so beat up it’s like it hasn’t been paved since the war. Resident Lincoln escaped as the Confederate army pounded Grant Road with cannon fire. It’s long past time to repave it.
