Rock Creek Conservancy’s 2022 summer fellows put their own spin on the organization’s community engagement efforts in July, organizing a spoken word performance and a “full moon gathering.” They’re not done yet.
On Thursday, August 11th, when the “Sturgeon Moon” will be making an appearance, the conservancy is hosting another gathering and discussion of the moon cycles and their influence on plant, human and animal life. The gathering will take place at Rock Creek Park Trail 9 (near Broad Branch Road and Beach Drive) from 5:45 to 7 p.m. You can find more information and register here.
The following Sunday, August 14th, Rock Creek Conservancy will be talking about one of our favorite subjects: the frogs and toads at the daylighted Broad Branch Stream. Following a brief 7 p.m. talk, attendees will take a walk. Here’s the info and registration link.
And on Saturday, August 20th, the trees at the Broad Branch restoration site will be the subject of another walk and talk. Register here.
Other conservancy activities in our local parks will give you a chance to roll up your sleeves. It’s hosting invasive removal events at Reservation 630 West on August 20th and Trail 9 on August 27th. And there’s always more on the Rock Creek Conservancy calendar.
