Neighborhood in the News: Sietsema on Sfoglina; Soapstone on TV

March 28, 2017 by FHC

Only a day after we remarked on the frequent appearance of neighborhood eateries on “best-of” lists, The Washington Post came out with another one, featuring another neighborhood eatery!

This one is a guide to Washington’s most delicious dumplings, and it includes the chicken momos from Laliguras. The March 9th Going Out Guide sings the praises of the momos and their dipping sauce. But this is not the only noteworthy food at the restaurant. What do you think of its dumplings? What are your favorites?

We think he likes it: Washington Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema has returned to Sfoglina to write his review. He’s a fan of the food and the service.

Am I recognized here? I am. Have friends unknown to the staff shared with me similar tales of doting attention? They have. Sfoglina tends to treat everyone like premium members at the club.

Soapstone Market‘s star turn on TV: WUSA*9’s “Good Day Washington” spent the morning of March 20th at the neighborhood market with co-owner John Fielding and Van Ness Main Street Executive Director Theresa Cameron.

Here, reporter Meaghan Mooney tries her hand at sandwich making:

We had an unexplained jazz and donuts craving after watching this clip:
