Icy walkways greeted us after last week’s snow and sleet storm. But they do not need to stop us from walking.
I found a solution a few years ago – contraptions that fit over your hiking boots or whatever you wear in the snow. They are removable and give you the traction to set out in ice and snow.
For the past few years, I’ve been using YakTrax. If you walk a lot and there are many wintry mix or melt-and-refreeze days, the YakTrax will wear out. In one year they barely made it through the season.
I am trying out Korkers this year.
These over-the-shoe cleats have been great for keeping me walking. And if you’re doing more walking around in our socially-distanced times, they may keep you active and sane in the winter months ahead.

Totally agree with you. I’ve had mine for years and enjoy feeling confident walking on ice. I gave them as gifts to a number of friends (old ladies).

That link for Korkers says “Korkers Ultra Ice Cleats is no longer available”.

That was quick. Probably due to all the traffic we drove to REI’s site. :)
Here’s the link straight from Korkers.
