New Location For October 12th Mushroom Foray

The government shutdown has prevented us from starting the mushroom walk from the Rock Creek Park Nature Center, but the walk is still on this Saturday, October 12th.

We will meet on Tilden Street at Reno Road to do our hunting and learning in Melvin Hazen Park.

Jon Elfritz of the Mycological Association of Washington will be our guide. We will start the walk at 10 a.m. and go until noon. The terrain is fairly level with a gentle slope getting into the park. It is accessible by foot, bike, car (with parking on the south side of Tilden) and Metro (a three block walk from the Van Ness Metro). Please arrive a few minutes before 10.

And if we get all the rain it calls for, this will be an excellent opportunity to search for mushrooms. The ground may be soggy so be prepared for mud. We are on, rain or shine.
