New Online Grocer Moves In Next Door

There’s a new grocer in town, and it’s not like the rest.

The only way to shop at Relay Foods is to go online. Then, you pick up your purchases at one of several locations around the area. Or, you can pay a fee and have the items delivered to you. Relay also works with high-rises to provide free deliveries one day each month to residents of the building. Tilden Hall and Sedgwick Gardens apartments on Connecticut Avenue are two such “drop spots.”

Relay’s pick-up and delivery service recently arrived in our area. Relay’s Mara McLaurin sent us this description of the service:

Relay Foods is now bringing the best in fresh local produce, sustainable foods, and everyday groceries right to residents in Tenleytown. The Virginia-based grocery startup is opening a new neighborhood pickup location at Reno Park, on Tuesdays from 4:30-8:00pm, where customers can conveniently retrieve their online grocery orders placed at RelayFoods.com for no extra charge.

By collaborating with many local farmers, artisans and stores, Relay Foods is able to deliver high quality locally-sourced food products year-round – stocking many of the same items you would find at the farmers’ market – plus everyday staples that you would find at a typical box store. The process is quick and easy: simply log on to RelayFoods.com, browse their huge selection and then place your order and receive next day home delivery or free pick-up at a variety of locations around town.

Relay DC Pick Up Locations 10-01-2013-9Relay Foods has been rapidly expanding its popular service in the greater Washington DC area, adding local pickup times and locations and extending home delivery – which is also available to customers in Tenleytown. With simple online ordering and convenient delivery or free pick up, Relay Foods is changing the way people get their groceries, simplifying the process and raising the standards for local quality.

Launched in Charlottesville, Va. in 2009, Relay Foods has made eating healthy as convenient as possible for much of Virginia and the Washington, D.C., and Baltimore metro area including: Baltimore, Annapolis, Washington, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, Richmond, Williamsburg, Staunton, Lynchburg and Fredericksburg, Va.
