News From The Playground: Halloween Party!

October 8, 2012 by FHC

by Virginia Adams Marentette

Forest Hills Halloween parties, in 2006 (top) and 2010 (bottom). The 2011 party was snowed out.

The Friends of Forest Hills Playground is excited to announce that we’ll be hosting our annual Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27th from 10:00 am to Noon at the Forest Hills Playground on Chesapeake Street.

There will be a special performance by the Great Zucchini, a costume parade with the children (parents are welcome to dress up too!), arts and crafts stations, face painting, and other fun activities. We’ll also have a Halloween-themed bake sale with lots of treats for everyone to enjoy, and plenty of coffee for the grownups.

The Halloween Bash is our biggest event of the year! It’s a great time for all ages and also a way for our parent-run non-profit – the Friends of Forest Hills Playground – to raise a little money that will be invested back into our neighborhood park. The performance by the Great Zucchini and parade are totally free, but we’ll be selling affordable tickets ($1 each) for the other activities, balloons, and baked goodies, etc. We’re keeping the ticket price low, but additional donations are always welcome! Of course, tax deductible
monetary donations are welcome any time at ForestHillsPlayground.org.

If you would like to make a minimal time investment and join other parents in our neighborhood to deliver the best Halloween bash in town, please take a moment to sign up to volunteer now at SignupGenius.com/go/halloween852.

Following our Halloween bash, our next big event will be our fall cleanup, scheduled for Saturday, November 10 from 10:00 am-Noon. Details will be forthcoming, but mark your calendar now and plan to bring your whole family to spruce up the park. Bring your gloves, tools, rakes and brooms and prepare for a fun time as we work together to make the park a welcoming and safe environment for our entire community.
