Northwest Neighbors Village, a service organization that helps seniors age in place in upper Northwest DC, is moving its headquarters to Forest Hills.
The Methodist Home is donating office space to the growing permanent and volunteer staff of NNV. They’re moving in on Tuesday, August 13th. You can read more about NNV’s work here.
NNV Executive Director Marianna Blagburn announces the move below:
Northwest Neighbors Village (NNV) has been fortunate to enjoy donated office space at the award winning Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home on Western Avenue, N.W. for the past four years. Our organization has grown to serve five distinct communities in the upper northwest area of the District: Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Tenleytown, AU Park, N. Cleveland Park, and Forest Hills. Because of increased membership and numbers of volunteers, and, in addition to a full time Executive Director, we have hired a part time administrative coordinator, Danielle Feuillan, and a part time volunteer coordinator, Lisa Bregman. We need additional office space for interns and other volunteer administrative staff. NNV has outgrown our lovely office at the Lisner. We are pleased to announce that on Tuesday, August 13, Northwest Neighbors Village will move to a larger two room office suite (nearly 500 square feet!) donated to us by The Methodist Home of DC (MHDC).
“We are very pleased to relocate our operations to The Methodist Home”, reports Joan Norcutt, Co-President of NNV, “the new office space, a great location, and the various wonderful amenities of their beautiful community is ideal for our staff and volunteers to continue our work of supporting and engaging seniors living at home in northwest DC.”
Northwest Neighbors Village opened its doors in donated space at the Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt Home in March, 2009, with 22 members and 30 volunteers. In 2012, NNV surpassed the 200 member mark. Over 110 vetted volunteers donated 2500 hours of time last year helping seniors with transportation, friendly visits, assistance with technology, light yard work, de-cluttering, and grocery shopping. In addition to these services, NNV members enjoy exercise programs, social events, seminars, trips together, and access to member recommended vendors. The expanded space at The Methodist Home will support the additional staff needed to support a growing base of members and volunteers, programs, and services.
“The Methodist Home has a tradition of supporting and providing meeting space for many local civic and community organizations,” comments Sandy Douglass, CEO of MHDC, “and housing Northwest Neighbors Village on our campus is another example of what we do for the well- being of seniors.”
The Methodist Home, is a private, not-for-profit, full service retirement community providing a full continuum of personal care. The Connecticut Avenue campus offers independent and assisted retirement living, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center and a long term care nursing home. Forest Side, on Military Road, NW, is a specialized, secure, Alzheimer’s and dementia care assisted living community.
NNV’s office hours will stay the same when we move—Monday through Friday, 9-5 p.m. Starting August 13, please call us on our new telephone number at (202) 777-3435. Until then, you can reach us at (202) 237-1895.
Looking forward to seeing you at NNV’s new administrative offices, Suite 112.
You are always welcome!
