Much has changed since the Coalition for Smarter Growth led its first walking tour of Van Ness four years ago. The walk’s leaders talked about the history of development in the area and about coming changes.

On Saturday, October 22nd, from 10 a.m. to noon, CSG is leading is second tour of Van Ness to show off the awakening in our sleepy Van Ness: the new UDC Student Center, Park Van Ness, and windows inviting passersby to peek at WAMU’s broadcast operations. And that’s just the start, with Van Ness Main Street breathing new life into the area using the arts and business improvements, and more potential development waiting in the wings (see examples here, here and here).

Register for the walk here.

Hi, I registered for this but haven’t heard anything. Is it still happening? Where is the meeting site? Thanks,

I believe it starts at the Van Ness Metro on the east side (near CVS/Giant) at 10 am.
