Photos: Patching up the Forest Hills CVS after vandalism; conscientiousness-raising posters

June 2, 2020 by FHC 1 Comment

Vandals targeted the CVS Pharmacy at 5013 Connecticut Avenue Sunday night.

On Monday afternoon, the store was closed and workers were boarding up the store.

Politics and Prose next door wasn’t touched. Nor were other businesses on the block.

A few blocks south on Albemarle Street, someone posted some signs for the times.

A sign by the Albemarle Street entrance to Soapstone Park: A MAN WAS LYNCHED BY THE POLICE. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT IT? Text "Floyd" to 55156. Use your privilege for good.

The signs are near the entrance to the Soapstone Valley trailhead.

So do you care as much about Black life as you do Black death? Up against racism in all its forms? From Intra-personal to societal? Not just police brutality but including gentrification, homelessness, medical racism & more?

anti-racism is not an identity or a checklist; it's an ongoing decision to uproot the ways white supremacy resides within you, your relationships and the systems you navigate each day

Forest Hills Connection is produced by volunteers, and supported by you. We appreciate your support – financial and otherwise. Here’s how to donate.

Will this CVS store remain closed or will it reopen with boards?
