If you didn’t get your fill of Linnean and Broad Branch streams last Saturday at the opening event or missed it altogether, you have another chance. Come plant trees by the streams this coming Saturday.
Steve Saari, the DDOE project manager for these stream restorations, is organizing this event. I am sure he will answer any remaining questions you might have about the projects. And he promises me we are in for a spectacular morning, with just the right kind of weather for doing lots of digging.
What: Tree, shrub, and flower planting for the Broad Branch Stream Restoration Project
Who: Adults and kids are welcome
Time: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 25th.
Place: Meet at the corner of Broad Branch Road and Linnean Avenue NW
Other details: Please bring gloves and shovels if you have them. If not, they will be provided until they run out.
Also, there have been some queries about creating a “Friends of Broad Branch and Linnean Streams” to keep an eye out for our new and improved parks.
Please let us know if you are coming in the comment box below and whether you would like to become a “Friend.” We will have sign-up sheets at the tree planting event this Saturday, as well.
And let us know if you would like to take on the leadership of this group. Steve Saari and the Rock Creek Conservancy will be glad to advise and mentor.
