Road maintenance on Albemarle Street and sidewalk maintenance on Van Ness Street

Two much-needed transportation maintenance projects are in full swing.

Albemarle Street between Connecticut Avenue and 30th Street has been scraped for a new surface and a new crosswalk with ramps is being constructed at 30th.

But a familiar cold weather problem remains: a spring running over the roadway just west of 30th makes for an icy patch.

Expect construction and partial road closures up to December 24th.

The sidewalk on the north side of Van Ness Street between Connecticut Avenue and Reno Road, with its loose and missing bricks, is getting a facelift.

The sidewalk has been closed between Connecticut Avenue and UDC garage exit ramp next to the temporary trailers housing Eaton Elementary School.
