I came away from Saturday’s Green Living Expo on UDC’s plaza wanting to sign up for wind energy because I can’t do solar (we have too many trees), get an energy audit, and put porous paving everywhere possible in the neighborhood.
I must admit Noble Atkins of Capitol Flexi-Pave did a good job of selling me on the product. They have a contract with DDOT and will be completing the sidewalk over the roots of a tree on the 3800 block of Albemarle. I told them to let me know when, and I will be out there with my camera.
If you did not make the expo, you can check out the companies below (click on the photos to visit their web sites), and you find the many others that participated here.
Also, seeing the Washington Walks booth reminded me that Forest Hills needs to get on the Cultural Tourism walking tour list. Any volunteers?
We thank UDC’s College Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences, especially Sabine O’hara, the dean of CAUSES, Associate Dean William Hare, all the other sponsors, and our own David Bardin who worked on putting this together.

Glad you had a great experience! Thanks for coming out, and thanks for spreading the word beforehand.
I was impressed with the porous pavement demo as well, and glad to hear they have a contract with DDOT to work with street trees across the city. Would love to hear more in the comments about what others found exciting.
