The brunch crowd won’t have to leave the neighborhood come November.

Sfoglina, the pasta restaurant opening this fall in one of the Park Van Ness retail spaces, will feature house-made and imported, artisan dried pasta from Italy. Sfoglina will also offer carryout and sauces and condiments for retail sale. And, in addition to being open for lunch and dinner, it will also serve Sunday brunch.

These, and the restaurant renderings shown here, were among the details presented to ANC 3F at the commission’s July meeting. View the livestream here.

Sfoglina, pronounced Sfol-YEE-na, is the fourth restaurant from Fabio Trabocchi, an award-winning chef, and Maria Trabocchi, his business partner and wife. They run three other successful restaurants in DC.

ANC 3F voted 6-0-0 to support Sfoglina’s permit for the sidewalk cafe, on the condition the applicant demonstrates that any stormwater runoff, ice and snow will be adequately controlled and not affect the safety of pedestrians using the adjacent sidewalks.

Sfoglina’s planned November opening adds another neighborhood restaurant to the mix as new concert series bring new audiences to the UDC Theater for the Arts. Washington Performing Arts, Vocal Arts DC and Young Artist Concerts are making the theater their temporary home while their usual venue, the Kennedy Center, is renovated.
