Small Bites On New Eateries: Bread Furst And Little Red Fox

September 11, 2013 by FHC

Some appetizers to keep you going while we wait for new eateries to arrive in the neighborhood:

  • Mark Furstenberg, who recently signed a lease at 4434 Connecticut for his long-awaited new bakery, has started blogging about the process at RemarkableBreads.com. His first post includes an interesting history of the property, originally a Piggly Wiggly grocery store. He also reveals that he’ll be working across the street from the site of his first job in Washington: The former Chevy Chase Park and Shop, soon to be the former Van Ness Square.
  • Furstenberg is also looking for five apprentice bakers who can devote 10 to 15 hours a week to learning the business, and plan to open their own someday.
  • Little Red Fox, opening this fall in the Marvelous Market’s former location at 5035 Connecticut, is inviting people to join its mailing list for updates on its opening as well as future tastings and events.
