Soapstone Cleanup: July 20th

July 12, 2013 by FHC

Soapstone Valley The Rock Creek Conservancy has organized many a park cleanup in Forest Hills’ Soapstone Valley. This one is a little different:

The US Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program is leading a group of international visitors on a study tour titled “NGOs and Civic Activism.” They have asked the Rock Creek Conservancy to organize a service project in Rock Creek Park for their participation. The Conservancy has selected a trash cleanup in Soapstone Valley Park.

These visitors are also very interested in speaking with volunteers to learn about civic activism in the U.S. So this is an unique opportunity to catch up on the trash in Soapstone Valley while being a citizen diplomat.

Join the Rock Creek Conservancy and their guests on Saturday, July 20th, at the Albemarle Street trailhead at 9 a.m. The event will end at 11 a.m. Rock Creek Conservancy will provide gloves and bags.
