To fill vacant seat, ANC 3F seeks “Eleanor Holmes Norton” of SMD 3F04 (and more June ANC news)

June 26, 2018

by Marlene Berlin

The agenda for ANC 3F‘s June 19th meeting was jam-packed. Many of the headlines below will be updated with links and details as we write them up.

ANC looking to appoint non-voting commissioner for Single Member District 3F04

ANC 3F Chair Pat Jakopchek announced that due to the resignation of Commissioner Deirdre Brown, the ANC will appoint a non-voting commissioner to represent 3F04 until the end of the year. Jakopchek earlier described the post as “an Eleanor Holmes Norton on ANC 3F… someone who can act as a liaison to the community” until the November 6th general election and all the newly-elected ANC commissioners take office at the beginning of 2019.

The non-voting post (and the candidacy in November) is open to all who live in this single member district. The SMD is dominated by the apartment buildings and condos on the east side of Connecticut Avenue from Davenport to Windom, and includes around 20 single-family homes, the businesses between Windom and Albemarle, and Forest Hills Park. See the map below.

If you live in 3F04 and are interested, please send your resume to [email protected] by July 10th. The ANC will be making their appointment at their July 17th meeting.
