UDC’s farmers market, a partnership with National Latino Farmers and Ranchers, is opening for the 2024 season on Saturday, April 27th. You’ll find the market outside of the UDC Student Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday until November 16th.
Vendors are invited to submit their applications through close of business on March 1st.
The market’s student manager this year is Nancy Reyes, a junior majoring in Urban Sustainability at the university’s College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES). Reyes was born in DC and raised in Petworth, and she says she is looking forward to serving her community.
Reyes has “always had an interest in being involved,” she tells Forest Hills Connection. “I decided to join UDC because they represent the District in all its glory and its rich culture… I am interested in food justice, urban agriculture, and climate change and expect to graduate between the fall of 2024 and the spring of 2025.”
