Vacancies on our most local government body leave a large part of our neighborhood under-represented

March 5, 2020

ANC 3F07

Attention voting residents of North Cleveland Park and south Van Ness: No one turned in nominating petitions for your open ANC 3F07 seat in the last round. Now is the time to get a representative on this elected body that carries “great weight” with DC policymakers.

Here’s information about the seat and how to run. The deadline for returning completed petitions to the DC Board of Elections is Monday, March 16th.

The challenge period for the other North Cleveland Park seat, 3F01, ended on February 27th. If no one turned in nominating petitions, that seat will also be certified as vacant and the process will begin again. If more than one candidate turned in petitions, there will be a special election, most likely at an upcoming ANC 3F meeting.

These elected representatives are here to give the neighborhood a voice with DC agencies. When all seven seats on ANC 3F are filled, that voice is amplified.

Here’s the February 21st DC Board of Elections notice about the 3F07 vacancy:

BOARD OF ELECTIONS

CERTIFICATION OF ANC/SMD VACANCY

The District of Columbia Board of Elections hereby gives notice that there are vacancies in seven (7) Advisory Neighborhood Commission offices, certified pursuant to D.C. Official Code § 1-309.06(d)(2); 2001 Ed; 2006 Repl. Vol.

VACANT: 1B07, 1C08, 2B03, 3F07, 4A05, 5A04, and 7F07

Petition Circulation Period: Monday, February 24, 2020 thru Monday March 16, 2020

Petition Challenge Period: Thursday, March 19, 2020 thru Wednesday, March 25, 2020

1015 – Half Street, SE, Suite 750

Washington, DC 20003

For more information, the public may call 727-2525.
