When we founded Forest Hills Connection six years ago, only two neighborhood restaurants offered a weekend brunch, which we’ll (generally) define as a sit-down meal and the option of an adult beverage such as a mimosa: Terasol and Jake’s American Grille.
Terasol is now closed, sadly. But Jake’s is still serving brunch – and it now has a lot more company.
The latest to welcome the brunch crowd is Italian Pizza Kitchen (4483 Connecticut Avenue). Beginning April 7th, it’s serving brunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
Our friends at Italian Pizza Kitchen have exciting news! 🍕In addition to their newly finished interior, this Saturday, April 7th kicks off WEEKEND BRUNCH!!

By our count, there are now nine neighborhood eateries (other than fast food) serving brunch and/or breakfast on weekends. Here’s the rundown:
Jake’s American Grille (5018 Connecticut)
Jake’s serves brunch from 10 to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. For parents of young children, its free childcare is a major draw.

Acacia serves brunch on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On the more casual side…
Soapstone Market (4465 Connecticut)
Soapstone Market opens at 8 a.m. You can grab a breakfast sandwich at the counter, and an adult beverage at the bar.
Bread Furst (4434 Connecticut)
We’re breaking our “brunch” definition here. Bread Furst serves no adult beverages stronger than espresso, but customers pack its tables every weekend regardless, beginning at 8 a.m.
