Wanted: Local musicians for Forest Hills Park concerts

April 20, 2015 by FHC

by Alexandra Chalupa
President, Friends of Forest Hills Playground

We’re looking for musicians to hire for the Friends of Forest Hills Playground’s first-ever “Picnic in the Park” concert series.

FOFHP, the non-profit that helps care for the Forest Hills Playground located on Chesapeake Street and hosts community functions at the park, is excited to announce these new events. Our aim is to bring together families and neighbors of all generations throughout the Forest Hills neighborhood.

The three picnic concert events will take place from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. (with music wrapping up around 7:30) on the last Friday of the month starting in May. The dates are May 29th, June 26th, July 31st.

Witchy Witch performed for a crowd at the amphitheater shortly after the renovated playground reopened last October.

We’d like to feature music geared toward adults, but lively and fun for all ages to enjoy. We’re open to different types of music – jazz, R&B, Latin, blues, reggae, pop and so on. Solo artists and ensembles are welcome. Our beautiful playground was completely renovated last year and includes an outdoor community mini-amphitheater with an electrical outlet, if needed, for performances.

If you’re interested in being part of our community event or know someone to recommend, please email FOFHP President Alexandra Chalupa at alexandrachalupa@gmail.com or call 202-341-9788. Thank you!
