Washingtoniana archive opens in Van Ness on Sept. 11

September 7, 2018 by FHC Leave a Comment

The new, temporary home of DC Public Library’s DC history archive opens at 4340 Connecticut Avenue on Tuesday, September 11th. The UDC Law building will be home to the Washingtoniana Collection until the MLK Library renovation is completed in fall 2020.

The Washingtoniana Collection’s hours are:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Wednesdays and Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • And the first and third Saturdays of the month: 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  •
Most of the time, you can’t just pop in on a whim to take a look around. Walk-in hours are Tuesday through Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. Otherwise, visitors need to schedule an appointment by calling 202-727-1213 or emailing wash.dcpl@dc.gov.

Washingtoniana staff also plan special programming, such as house history workshops and musical collaborations with UDC. Events are to be listed on DC Public Library’s online calendar.
