Stumped by tree identification? Leave it to our local librarians and a Casey Trees arborist.
They’re inviting us on an hour-long guided walk of the Soapstone Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 8th. Walkers will gather at the Cleveland Park Interim Library at 4340 Connecticut Avenue and head from there to the trailhead on Albemarle Street, about a block east of Connecticut.
The library says: “Increase your enjoyment of one of Washington’s best features, our trees, learning the basics of tree identification by observing a variety of native D.C. trees in the neighborhood. Skills learned will help you identify trees in your neighborhood or participate in an upcoming park tree inventory this summer.”
“Rain or shine! Wear appropriate foot gear for walking on wooded paths.”
Are we going out on a limb when we say this walk will be poplar? Yew won’t want to miss it.
