At the May meeting of the UDC Community-Campus Task Force, attendees learned (per the minutes):
- The university was working on a garage elevator project at UDC-owned 4250 Connecticut Avenue for MOM’s Organic Market. The project was slated to be complete this month, and at the time, MOM’s was telling UDC it could be ready to open 30 days after that.
- Buildout drawings for The Whale Tea, a bubble tea shop to open at 4340 Connecticut (the UDC law school building) were under review at the Department of Buildings. And Dog Haus, a restaurant leasing the former Acacia Bistro space, was still working with its architect on its plans.
The next UDC Community-Campus Task Force meeting, at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 8th, will include another facilities and retail update. That’s the second item on the tentative agenda below.
Number one on the agenda is the university’s number one: UDC President Maurice Edington, who will provide an update on the university’s five-year strategic plan.
These meetings are open to the public, and are held virtually. You can join the meeting at universityofdc.webex.com.

Joan Rosenthal says
I have been so disappointed with the failure of UDC to lease empty buildings in our neighborhood. The Walgreens site- empty for years- lease signs up everywhere for years.
It’s disturbing for our neighborhood and at what cost is it to DC taxpayers.
UDC is looking like a bad neighbor.
Michael Walker says
We LOVE UDC! It would be great if there was a community scholarship to support students.
