After organizing two popular “Jazz @ VN” events at Acacia Bistro and Bread Furst, Van Ness Main Street is inviting us out for “Music at the Market.”
Musicians will perform live jazz at the UDC farmers market at 4340 Connecticut Avenue on Saturday, July 23rd, August 6th and 20th, and September 10th.
Van Ness Main Street first welcomes the Jordon Dixon Quartet, featuring Jordon Dixon on saxophone, Allyn Johnson on piano, Herman Burney on bass, and Trae Crudup on drums. They’ll perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on July 23rd.
You’ll find more details and updates on the Van Ness Main Street Facebook page, or call 240-462-9664.
The June 30th “Jazz @ VN” at Bread Furst featured the barbershop harmonies of the Singing Capital Chorus (which practices at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church).

We can expect more musical collaborations between local businesses and Van Ness Main Street. Its executive director, Theresa Cameron, is focused on the arts as a redevelopment and revitalization tool.
“For every dollar invested in the arts,” she told Forest Hills Connection in May, “it generates nine dollars in returns.”
