Dear FHC readers,
Forest Hills Connection marked its seventh anniversary in April 2019, and we can hardly believe it’s been so long! We’ve enjoyed connecting the community and sharing our discoveries with you. So no seven-year itch here – we’re just itching to do more!
None of this would have been possible without you. You have supported us in so many ways, including your writing, photographs, donations and advertising. Thank you.
Two years ago, we started something new – paying an up-and-coming reporter to cover the business beat. The addition of Katherine Saltzman, who used to write for the Northwest Current, allowed us to expand our coverage beyond the commercial areas of Van Ness and Forest Hills to the businesses around us in Cleveland Park, Tenleytown and Chevy Chase. (Thank you, Kat!) Kat will soon be leaving for graduate studies in Europe, and we are looking for her successor. With your donations and advertising we will be able to continue to fund this position.
2020’s “something new” includes a new advertising format – the sponsored post. CommuniKids, a preschool program in our area, had the honor of being first as they approached us with the idea. The option is so new we haven’t had a chance to add it to our advertising page yet (a revamp is on the 2020 to-do list, too), so please contact us at [email protected] in the meantime if that interests you.
Again we could not do it without you, supporters such as Acacia Food & Wine, Calvert Woodley, ANC 3F, and Van Ness Main Street with their annual ads, neighbors who donate, and our Classifieds and other small advertisers. We need it all and hope we can continue to depend on your support this giving season and next year. Click here for information on making a tax-deductible donation and here to advertise.
We wish you a healthy and happy New Year!
