You’re invited: Free jazz concert Monday at UDC’s outdoor amphitheatre

June 11, 2015

The University of the District of Columbia has a well kept secret. It has a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre right next to the tennis courts, hidden away among some evergreens. And on Monday, June 15th at 7 p.m., UDC, in collaboration with the Van Ness Vision Committee, invites you to a free JAZZAlive event at this hidden gem.

20150615_BruceWilliams_dcjazz_smallSaxophonist and recording artist Bruce Williams will join pianist Allyn Johnson and the UDC JAZZtet for an evening of soul-stirring jazz. The UDC JAZZtet includes DC favorites Steve Novosel (bass), DeAndre Shaifer (trumpet), Douglas Pier (trumpet), Howard “Kingfish” Franklin (drums) and special guest, vocalist Sandra Y Johnson. See below for videos showcasing their amazing artistry.

So mark your calendars and bring your friends and family. We recommend bringing a cushion, and you might also like to enjoy an eat-in dinner or take-out picnic from one of the following great neighborhood restaurants along Connecticut Avenue:
