I told a friend about my new obsession with mushrooms on Monday night. She emailed me Tuesday morning about Monday’s Diane Rehm show on WAMU. The topic? Mushrooms, of course, and the people who are taking their obsession to another level entirely. I caught part of it, but wanted to share it with those in the community who have gotten a bit more interested in mushrooms due to Marjorie Rachlin’s piece.
I guess mushrooms are in the air. Well, in fact, their spores are in the air we breathe. According to Eugenia Bone, in her book Mycophilia, there are an “estimated 1,000-10,000 spores floating around for every cubic meter of air.”
