‘Sunrise Fitness’ Rises in Forest Hills

September 20, 2013 by FHC

When you live long enough in a neighborhood to see your children’s classmates grow up, you also see some of them start their own businesses. Case in point: Brendan Herbert and two other buddies are starting a business focused on getting us in shape. In fact, my younger daughter told me about this fitness group before Brendan got in touch with me. For those who want to improve their fitness, here is something new to try. –Marlene Berlin

Sunrise Fitness in Forest Hills

As we get back into the groove of taking the kids to school and going to work, we often forget to take care of ourselves. Whether it’s a lack of time, accessibility, or convenience, we tend to put our health low on the totem pole during these busy fall months.

Don’t worry. The DC Health Coaches, a local health and fitness group created by native Washingtonians, are here to help. In an effort to help the communities where they grew up, the DC Health Coaches are creating Sunrise Fitness “Bootcamp” for Forest Hills neighbors and friends.

The Forest Hills bootcamp will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:10 a.m. starting on 9/24 and 9/26, and will end promptly at 7 a.m. (those who may need to sneak out early are allowed to do so).

The bootcamp will focus on total body conditioning and is designed so that even the beginner and intermediate exerciser can successfully complete it. Cardio, strength, and flexibility are all focused on during these 50-minute workouts, with an emphasis on safety and proper form. The DC Health Coaches team of trainers helps guide every individual successfully, and safely through the workout using circuit training and interval training methods.

Don’t let the fall craziness keep you from being healthy. Come out and try the class at the field on 32nd and Chesapeake. The first class you attend is always free.

If you have questions or would like more information email Brendan Herbert at [email protected] or visit dchealthcoaches.com.

I have trained with Brendan Herbert before and he is excellent. I saw him recently and he mentioned that if enough folks were interested in a 9 AM session, his team would be willing to host a class then as well. It’s so great to have this opportunity in our neighborhood!
