The nation’s largest student movement against hunger, the Food Recovery Network, is hosting its second annual National Food Recovery Dialogue (NFRD) on November 4-5, 2017 at the University of the District of Columbia. The College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Sciences (CAUSES) is a sponsor.
NFRD convenes hundreds of student, nonprofit, business, and policy leaders across the social and environmental justice landscapes in one location to discuss the various issues regarding food recovery and hunger.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Jessica Felix-Romero, Communications Director of Farmworker Justice. Other featured speakers include: Stacy Carroll, Director of Sales & Partnerships at Hungry Harvest; Kaimana Chee, Executive Chef of Uncle’s Hawaiian Grindz; Dr. Jonathan Deutsch, Professor of Culinary Arts and Food Science at Drexel University; Tony Hillery, Founder and Executive Director of Harlem Grown; Spike Mendelsohn, Chef Ambassador to CARE International and Chef Contributor to DC Central Kitchen; and Jenn Yates, Food And Agriculture Systems Consultant.
