Washington Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema is a fan of Sfoglina. Buck’s Fishing & Camping is where he goes when he’s craving comfort food. And now he’s raving about the newest restaurant in Forest Hills.
But first he had to get past the name: I’m Eddie Cano. “I was prepared to dislike the place before even eating there,” he writes. Sietsema got over it when he discovered chef James Gee is one of the owners. Gee and partner Massimo Papetti have quite a pedigree.

Customers have made themselves at home at I’m Eddie Cano. Jake Tapper live-tweeted a marriage proposal. Eater DC includes the restaurant on its list of DC’s 15 hottest restaurants. It also collected glowing customer reviews from Yelp.
Glowing, but in one respect. The biggest complaint about I’m Eddie Cano isn’t about the food or the service. It’s about the noise levels. However, I’m Eddie Cano says putting the “din” in dinner was never part of the plan. Sound-dampening panels are on the menu.

I couldn’t agree more with the rave reviews. We had a delicious dinner there on Sunday night. Perfect homemade spaghetti with juicy little clams; great hanger steak, which you don’t see often enough. Like Tom Sietsema, our expectations were tempered because of the name, which sounds like a gimmick for a chain restaurant. We can’t wait to go back.
