One of Forest Hills Connection’s missions is to educate and inform readers about the work of Advisory Neighborhood Commissions, and ANC 3F in particular. Commissioners are elected to these positions every two years, and they will be on the ballot on November 6th.
Whose name (or names) you’ll see on Election Day depends on your street address, but we think it’s worth your while to read up on them all, since they will work as a group to take up neighborhood issues with the District government. Forest Hills Connection has invited the candidates for six of ANC 3F’s seven seats to tell us about themselves and how they wish to serve the neighborhood. The seventh, ANC 3F04, will have no candidate on the ballot. Two of the races are contested: ANC 3F02 and 3F06. We’ll publish the two 3F06 candidate statements tomorrow.
The candidates for ANC 3F02 are Dave Donaldson and Carolinn Kuebler. Here is Kuebler’s statement. Here is Donaldson’s:
I am Dave Donaldson, a Friend, Neighbor and Resident of our Van Ness ANC3F02 Community for 19 years.
I bring a wide range of of experience and connection to the ANC3F02 Commissioner Seat.
It started after high school when I entered the US Army where I did two combat tours. When I returned from the Army, I went back to college, Kean University (on the GI Bill). My Senior Year, I was elected President of the Student Government. After I graduated, I taught High School for 3 years (during that time I was elected Post Commander of VFW).
After I left education, I went into the Sales and Sales Management side of early Information Technology.
I moved into Van Ness East Washington, DC, 19 years ago and after 7 years, I joined up with candidate Mary Cheh at the time as she was running for Ward3 Councilwoman. I have supported her now for the past 12 years and will again this year as a Precinct 34 Captain and as an ANC3F02 Candidate.
In summary, over the past 12 years, I served with the Ward 3 Democratic Committee and was elected once as the 2nd Vice Chairperson and once as the 1st Vice Chairperson.
I took on running for an At-Large Committeeman District Wide and have been re-elected two more times since District Wide.
I have decided to focus and work where I can make a more direct impact on moving our ANC3F02 Community Forward, if you will Elect Dave Donaldson, your ANC3F02 Commissioner.
I’m asking my Neighbors, Friends, the Voters of our ANC3F02 to Elect Dave Donaldson ANC3F02 Commissioner on November 6, 2018 at the Burke School.
