First, we’d like to welcome Nora Pehrson, an 11th grader at Wilson High School and Forest Hills Connection’s new intern. She will expand our coverage of school issues. Her first article is on the parking problems for Murch teachers and staff at the beginning of the school year. She will also be following school construction at Herast and Deal, and modernization plan at Murch. She is a much-needed addition to our reporting staff.
Speaking of which: We are always on the lookout for more writers, photographers, videographers to cover the news in our ‘hood and write pieces on any and all topics, big and small, serious and humorous. The natural, urban, personal and literary are all fair game for the Connection.
Finally, we are experimenting with new ways to make the Connection self-sustaining (which means covering annual costs of tech expertise, web hosting, etc). To that end, we’ve repriced classified ads at $5 per month and are increasing their visibility on the Forest Hills Connection home and article pages. By seeking help or offering your services in the neighborhood through our classifieds, you help us as well.
Also, if you’re the type of person who likes to chat up local merchants and service providers, we’d appreciate your help in lining up advertisers. And, of course we welcome your donations.
We need your continued support and participation. Tracy and I can’t do it without you.
