Interested in serving your community? Want to play a greater role in shaping local policy and addressing neighborhood issues?
We need folks to run for our Advisory Neighborhood Commission, 3F. In order to run, you need to pick up a petition at the Board of Elections between 8:15 and 4:45 at One Judiciary Square, 441 4th Street, NW, Suite 250N, Judiciary Square Metro stop. For more specific instructions download this PDF.
To secure a place on the November 6 ballot, candidate petitions must be returned to the Board of Elections by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8. The petition requires 25 signatures of registered voters. It is advised to get more since some who sign may not be registered voters. As of July 31, those who are listed as running (those who have picked up petitions) on the Board of Election website are Adam Tope for ANC 3F01 (incumbent), Karen Perry (incumbent) for ANC 3F02, Mary Beth Ray for ANC 3F03, David Lowell (new) for ANC 3F06, and Bob Summersgill (incumbent). As of that date, no petitions had been filed for ANCs 3F03, 04, and 05.
Not sure who you’d represent? Please check the newly configured map of ANC 3F, and this rundown of the responsibilities and duties of ANC commissioners. Also, fellow 3F resident Keith Ivey has created a handy web tool, at RunForANC.com. Type in your street address, and it will tell you which of the ANC’s single member districts you live in, whether that will change with the new ANC boundaries in January, who currently represents you, and who is running for the position.
