Van Ness business updates: MOM’s progress and target opening date; Concept for incoming Park Van Ness restaurant revealed

November 22, 2023

Updates on two new businesses coming to Van Ness:

Our last Business in Brief feature, on November 13th, included assurances that work to open a MOM’s Organic Market location at 4250 Connecticut Avenue continues to advance.

And now, comes confirmation from MOM’s itself. The retailer writes to Popville: “alongside the cherry blossoms, MOM’s Organic Market Van Ness will be opening this spring!”

That assurance arrived days after the previously empty space started filling up with equipment, including freezer and refrigerator cases.

The future MOM’s Organic Market Van Ness at the beginning of November…

And filled with equipment at mid-month.

In October, Forest Hills Connection broke the news that Sababa and Rasika owner Ashok Bajaj is opening a restaurant at Park Van Ness, at 4465 Connecticut Avenue. But we did not know yet which concept the longtime restaurateur would choose.

The Eat DC X account says the new restaurant will be “a farm to table neighborhood spot called Rosedale, with 120 seats inside and 35 outside.” Bajaj’s restaurant group also has a farm-to-table concept in Dupont Circle, called Annabelle.

Bread Furst owner Mark Furstenberg tells us that Bajaj had also considered opening a pizza place. Furstenberg is in the “we don’t need more pizza restaurants” camp. And he says he told Bajaj so.

You know what we could really use in the neighborhood? A Sweetgreen’s in the location of the former Burger King.
