Where’s Van Ness Main Street? Just follow the new banners.

March 3, 2022

One of the new VNMS banners at dusk.

As you stroll or drive down Connecticut Avenue, be sure to look up.

The street lights in the commercial areas between Nebraska Avenue and Van Ness Street are now adorned with Van Ness Main Street banners, 28 in all. These banners are “brand statement markers” for the organization and its project area, which expanded to include the businesses along the 5000 block of Connecticut Avenue in 2020.

The banners, designed by VNMS Design Committee member Wendy Bogart, are inspired by the Soapstone Valley and Van Ness Main Street’s colors.

They were installed over two days this week.

Funding for the banners came from donations (you can still contribute here) and ANC 3F.

To learn more about Van Ness Main Street’s activities, give them a follow on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and sign up for their newsletter. And attend their annual meeting, which will (fingers crossed) be held in person at the VNMS office at 4340 Connecticut Avenue on Friday, May 6th from 9 to 10 a.m.

Forest Hills Connection is a program of Van Ness Main Street.
