Metro’s stalled effort to close the Van Ness station’s west entrance for a three-year escalator project got the DC media’s attention in the past couple of weeks. But so did a few other places around the neighborhood.
The Indian and Nepalese cuisine at Laliguras (4221-B Connecticut) gets a positive review from the Washington Post. The reviewer likes the place so much, you might be as surprised as one commenter was that the restaurant gets only two stars from the Post. But by the Post’s own standard for reviews, two stars indicate “Restaurants with generally appealing cooking, service and settings; they tend to be worth driving across town for.”
Keep that in mind as you check out the Post’s two and one-half star review for Bread Furst (4434 Connecticut). It’s a rare bakery review by Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema. And this exception to the rule is run by Sietsema’s friend, Mark Furstenberg.
Finally, architect Travis Price’s distinctive and airy Forest Hills home is back on the market and featured as the Post’s “House of the Week”. It can be yours for about $3.4 million.
