Several artists who live in and around Van Ness have united in a collective called, simply, the Van Ness Artists Collective. The group’s first art show is now under way at Soapstone Market (4465 Connecticut) through Labor Day. And Van Ness Main Street is helping to kick things off with an opening reception at the market this Sunday, June 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.
VNMS Executive Director Theresa Cameron has been working with this group since Art All Night last fall, and artist Judy Buelow has been the organizing force behind this show.
“It turns out there are a lot of artists in and around Van Ness,” says Buelow. “We’re so pleased that Theresa Cameron and Van Ness Main Street brought us all together, and took the initiative to find venues for us to exhibit our work. We’re also thrilled that Soapstone Market provided the nascent Van Ness Artists Collective this opportunity to share our art with our neighbors.”
The collective is a diverse group of artists working in styles ranging from the representational to the abstract, and variety of media, including painting, drawing and photography. The Soapstone Market exhibit includes the following artists:
Judy Buelow
Sally Canzoneri
Anne Chandra
Lena Frumin
George Grant
Rosalia Gutierrez-Huete
Karin Lithell
Rose Mosner
