We at Forest Hills Connection publish a “Meet the Candidates” series every election season to familiarize you with the names you might see on the ballot for Advisory Neighborhood Commission… or can write in yourself.
Voters in ANC 3F01, for example, won’t see any names printed on that section of their ballots. However, two residents of the single-member district (SMD) have stepped up to run as write-in candidates, and we are beginning Election 2024 series with them: Amy Rofman and Sammy David Thumba.
The SMD they are running to represent, on the west side of Connecticut Avenue, is almost entirely residential. Sheridan School is the exception. Its residents live in detached houses, duplexes, high-rise apartments, condos and a co-op. (Not sure of your SMD? OpenANC.org is a good place to check.)
You can read Sammy David Thumba’s statement here. This is Amy Rofman’s statement:

If elected, I will serve the community with integrity, transparency and accessibility. I will work collaboratively with 3F ANC representatives to keep the community informed about decisions that impact us. I will also listen and provide opportunities to gather input and feedback, such as this form. I hope you will use it to share what matters to you. Your voices will be heard.
Community-driven solutions are important to me. I will work to bring together residents, businesses, and local organizations to develop new initiatives and creative solutions to concerns and problems. For example, with the Streets & Sidewalks Committee of ANC 3F, I am interested in gathering community ideas for improving the mini park at Warren, Reno and 36th streets. I welcome any ideas you might have at [email protected].
I will be a trusted advocate for our neighborhood and accountable to you, ensuring that our concerns are represented both at the local and DC-wide levels in discussions about public safety, development, transportation, parking, zoning, schools, and more. I will also regularly report on my activities and seek your guidance.
My professional background includes decades of experience in Federal service and nonprofit leadership, as well as extensive volunteer work in our community (for example: DC Public Schools, Humane Rescue Alliance, Van Ness Main Street, and Friends of Forest Hills Playground). I have two teen boys, both of whom have attended DC Public Schools.
I am committed to working collaboratively to make our Single Member District an even better place to live, work, learn, and play. With your support, we can foster a community that is safe, inclusive, and vibrant for everyone.
Thank you for considering me as your ANC commissioner. I welcome your suggestions. I hope to serve you and work together to strengthen our neighborhood.
Please write in “Amy Rofman” on the ballot for 3F01.
