Meet Your ANC Candidate: Manolis Priniotakis, 3F05

October 4, 2012

Absentee voting began this week, and early, in-person voting starts on October 22nd. As you prepare to mark your ballots, whether it’s now or on November 6th, be sure to read up on your candidate (or candidates) for ANC commissioner.

This week, we present the statements of the ANC 3F candidates who responded to our request to tell us about themselves. And we invite you to a meet-and-greet we are hosting for the candidates on Sunday, October 21st from 2-4 p.m. at the Methodist Home.

Why vote? Your ANC commissioner is your go-to person if you are concerned about the condition of your sidewalks, or pedestrian safety, or if you’d like to see more (or fewer) outdoor cafes on Connecticut Avenue, or music in restaurants on the weekends. Read more about what they do.

3F05 has the only contested race of the 3F election. The candidates are Manolis Priniotakis and Meg Rosan. Here is Manolis Priniotakis’ statement:

I am very pleased to be running for ANC and will bring integrity, initiative, ideas, and commitment to service to the Commission. I have lived in Washington for 15 of the last 21 years and in Forest Hills for almost eight years. I will focus on constituent services, pedestrian and traffic safety, working with seniors, energy and environmental issues, and local economic growth. Specifically, I will address safety at the intersections of Connecticut and Nebraska and 36th and Fessenden, increase visibility of D.C. energy and environment programs, partner with groups focused on seniors, and monitor key 3F development sites.

I am proud that I:

ANC 3F05

  • Have children at Murch and Franklin Montessori,
  • Chair the Murch Safe Routes to School pedestrian safety program,
  • Work in the District for the Department of Energy,
  • Have degrees from two D.C. schools (Georgetown and Johns Hopkins-SAIS),
  • Am a homeowner in the District, and
  • Am a small business owner in the District (in 3F).
  • I have held senior private sector positions with such companies as Amazon.com and eToys and have extensive public and community service experience, as a: federal employee; past member of the Board of the Friends of Forest Hills Playground; frequent volunteer cleaning, digging, painting and organizing events at the Forest Hills park; a RiverSmart Homes participant; a Northwest Neighbors Village volunteer; and a kitten foster for the Washington Animal Rescue League. I have already done extensive outreach to the police, fire department, groups serving area seniors, pedestrian safety advocates, DC councilmembers, and neighborhood business owners to better understand the issues affecting our community.

I will communicate with residents through social media, the ANC’s website, and my website: ManolisANC.com, which has details on my plans and positions. I will also hold quarterly meetings for 3F05 residents to hear any concerns or ideas they may have.

Previously: Adam Tope of 3F01, Mary Beth Ray of 3F03, and Sally Gresham of 3F04. Coming Friday: ANC 3F06 candidate David Solorzano Lowell and ANC 3F07 candidate Bob Summersgill. Not sure of your district, or who is running? Go to RunForANC.com to find out.
