A lot of trash and other debris wash into the Soapstone Valley and into the creek during rainstorms. Some, sad to say, is dumped there on purpose. All of it needs to be picked up to prevent pollutants from entering our waterways. And the next chance to help out is this Saturday, December 2nd.
Rock Creek Conservancy and ANC 3F are seeking volunteers for this cleanup, from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are to meet at the Windom Place trailhead (just off Connecticut Avenue, near the Van Ness Metro Station).
A previous cleanup at this spot yielded several bags of trash – and a toilet.
Volunteers are asked to register here.
