In the midst of our chill gray rainy days, when the sky cleared once or twice to mere cloudiness, I went to the zoo. Usually I’m escorting children. This time I took an adult look. Here’s a little of what I found:

A black-crowned night heron, from a wild migratory flock outside the Bird House (see nationalzoo.si.edu for more about a marvel of nature and our city)
