There’s still time to get in on the Forest Hills Community Yard Sale

October 7, 2015

Yard sale

by Marlene Berlin

It looks like many of you are cleaning out closets, basements and attics – and getting ready for the Forest Hills Community Yard Sale on Saturday, October 17th! This fundraiser for Forest Hills Connection will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the rain date is the 18th. Details on locations are coming soon.

Yard sale sites are popping up, people are emailing about items to donate, and the number of tables at community sites are growing. Some of the items people are selling:

  • Paintings and pottery
  • Furniture
  • Crystal chandelier
  • Yarn and other craft supplies
  • Kids stuff!
  •
Don’t miss the fun – sign up below. Again, here are the ways you can participate.

  • Donate a couple of items at a central site – art, furniture, kitchen equipment, trikes, bikes, strollers, something unique.
  • Set up a table to a community site.
  • Set up a sale with other families on your block.
  • Drop a hat and play a tune, or let your kids set up a lemonade stand.
  •
If donating one or two items, please send descriptions and photos, if possible, to [email protected]. We will accept dropoffs the day before the sale. Details on that are coming soon. Items that do not sell will be donated.

If you are participating as a seller, we will take care of getting the word out, and would appreciate a 10% donation of your sale proceeds. And if you feel more generous, we will not turn down a larger tax-deductible donation.

And thank you for your support of Forest Hills Connection. Proceeds will cover operating costs so that we can continue to keep you in the know about neighborhood happenings.

this is wonderful and been waiting for something like this for so long. BUT most of us, I would guess will need more time to prepare. We receive announcement Oct. 13th., so there not enough time for us to coordinate putting tables at a central site.
Having our home address would be tricky.
I live in a huge building where most people are senior and I bet downsizing.
Perhaps next year, I could get an earlier notice. COULD I BE ADDED TO YOUR EMAIL LIST PLEASE.
      WISH YOU ALL SUCCESS.
