Another reason to support Comet Ping Pong on Small Business Saturday

Our neighborhood is great about supporting our small businesses (that’s what at least one small business owner thinks, anyway.)

Our support is especially needed now at Comet Ping Pong and many other businesses on the 5000 block of Connecticut Avenue. Ward 3 Council member Mary Cheh has more to say about this:

Greetings all and Happy Thanksgiving,

In light of recent vicious and baseless stories surrounding Comet Ping Pong reported by fake news outlets, I would encourage residents to use the upcoming “Small Business Saturday” as an opportunity to support Comet Ping Pong and our other local businesses, especially those along that stretch of Connecticut Ave south of Nebraska Ave.

Owners of Comet Ping Pong have received death threats, had their personal information publicized, and endured numerous attacks on social media. These wild allegations have been spread by conspiracy theorists and are not based on any reality. The sad truth of how Comet Ping Pong has been affected has even been documented in the New York Times.

Again, I would encourage residents to be supportive of Comet Ping Pong, this Saturday, to show how appreciated they are in the community.

Regards,

Mary
Councilmember, Ward 3

What the Times doesn’t mention is that Comet Ping Pong isn’t the only business along this stretch of Connecticut Avenue on the receiving end of threats and online abuse. They can all use your support on Small Business Saturday – and every day.
