DC has expanded Covid-19 testing hours at Engine 31 and other locations

November 20, 2020 by FHC Leave a Comment

Engine Company 31 at 4930 Connecticut Avenue

As WJLA and others report, the District’s free Covid-19 testing sites have been swamped as case numbers rise around the region – and as people get ready to travel for Thanksgiving.

So starting Monday, November 23rd, Engine 31 (at 4930 Connecticut Avenue) and other firehouse testing sites will be open for an additional hour, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Engine 31 offers Covid testing Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and it also will be open for testing on Sunday, November 29th from 12 to 4 p.m.

No appointment is needed, but people are encouraged to register. And though the test is free for all DC residents, those with insurance are asked to present their information starting Monday so the city can seek reimbursement.

Just remember: These tests are a snapshot in time. Get tested too soon after possible exposure, and the test might not pick it up an infection. Tests are recommended three to five days after exposure.
