Update: At some point after we published this and an update on about firehouse testing in the District, DC’s Covid-19 testing website put a June 15th end date on the program. That means Fire Company 31 performed its first and last test on June 11th. We are checking with the offices of Mayor Bowser and DC Council member Mary Cheh.
Most Covid-19 test sites require an appointment. New, free walk-up test sites at eight DC firehouses will not. One is Engine Company 31 at 4930 Connecticut Avenue.
Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the firehouse test sites at her June 5th briefing. “If you need a test, get a test,” she said.
At Engine Company 31, testing will be conducted Thursdays from 4 to 8 p.m. by paramedics and EMTs. Again, the tests are free and no appointments are required.
