Our first is a walk of the site for “daylighting” Broad Branch Stream, a joint event with the District Department of the Environment, on Sunday, September 23rd. Click here for more information on the walk, and look here for more on what it takes to help this stream see the light of day again.
Next month, we are hosting a Meet and Greet for ANC candidates for our local ANC 3F. It will be on October 21st at the Methodist Home, from 2-4 p.m. Mark your calendars.
And at a time and date to be determined, the Forest Hills Connection and Ward Three Vision will co-host a walk of Van Ness to look at its strengths and weaknesses as a commercial hub and the possibilities for improvement. A new report rates the livability of urban centers, and we come out the lowest compared to Cleveland Park, Chevy Chase and Tenleytown.
Please watch this site, our community listservs (including the ForestHillsDC group) and The Current for details of upcoming events. If you have ideas and/or would like to organize an event, please let us know using our contact form or in the comments section below.
Forest Hills Connection is supported by grants from ANC 3F, Forest Hills Citizen Association, Mary Cheh, and the DC Humanities Council. And we especially thank the advertisers who have taken a chance on our fledgling web publication. As our readership grows, so will sponsorship, and our goal is to become self sustaining in two years. We also accept tax deductible donations. Please email me at [email protected] for details. And you can help us right now by sending our link to 5 neighbors and asking them to give us a try.
Finally, big thanks go out to our writers, our neighbors who’ve contributed essays and news articles that entertain and enlighten – you are the heart of this project. We could not do this without you.
