Labor Day signals summers’ end in many ways, including the end of operations of the District’s outdoor swimming pools. But high summer temps will be here for a while yet.
So, with forecast highs reaching the high 90s this week, the Department of Parks and Rec announced last Sunday that Hearst and Oxon Run pools would remain open through September 21st.

Hearst Pool’s hours were previously extended due to the Wilson pool’s on- and off-again reopening. And its hours of operation will continue to be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pool is closed Thursdays, but DPR says it will be open on the final day of the extension: Thursday, September 21st.
